Saint Rose of Lima is a Catholic church and school community. The parish has been part of Roseville since 1934. Its beliefs emphasize the sacraments, Christian community, and pastoral care. Saint Rose also has an extensive music ministry.
The small parish school teaches children from pre-K through eighth grade.
Transfiguration Catholic School is a private educational institution affiliated with Transfiguration Catholic Church. It provides academic instruction for students in pre-school through eighth grade, including mathematics, science, religion, social studies, reading comprehension and art. Athletic participation is open to boys and girls interested in soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, hockey and swimming.
Eagan Senior High School is the largest high school in District 196. The school is known for its high academics, and has placed second in state for science, fifth in state for Math and sixth in state for reading.
EHS has an exceptional arts program, and is the top two in the nation for speech and debate. The school features two plays and a music/dance variety show during the schoolyear.
EHS holds a lottery for parking. Students pay $80 a trimester to park in the student lot. There is also a free lot further away from the school.
The high school also boasts seven computer labs and two mobile labs. There is also an auditorium that can seat 681 people.
Glacier Hills Elementary School of Arts and Science is a District 196 Magnet School. The school looks at each day of reading, writing, math, science and social studies through the lens of arts and science, which provides for a unique and interesting learning environment.
Glacier Hills students are offered many special programs, such as classes in a visual arts studio with an arts specialist. Students also participate in vocal and instrumental classes with corresponding specialists, It is equipped with a set of guitars and world drums. Students also get the opportunity to hunt for fossils and are provided real lab experiences in science classes.
A federal grant provided the school with a great amount of technology, and the entire staff has been provided with extensive training.
Classrooms feature SMART boards, and there is a computer lab and two wireless lab stations for students to use.
Also, Glacier Hills has a top-notch DCDD - SPMI (Severely Profound Mentally Impaired) Needs Progam, and students have graduated to the DCDD-MW program within the school.
Falcon Ridge Middle School is one of three middle schools in Apple Valley, and one of six in District 196. It serves 1,150 students in grades six through eight in academics, as well as in an array of athletic and other extracurricular activities. Music programs, such as band, choir and a jazz band, are strong, Principal Noel Mehus said. Falcon Ridge's central location in District 196 also makes it feasible for students who live in other parts of the district to open enroll here, he said.
The Alexander Ramsey House is a preserved Victorian home. The museum space hosts special events, including holiday celebrations and lectures on the methods of preservation that ensure the house is intact despite being a relic of the 1870s.
