American Swim Academy began in 1973 as Fremont Swim School. It was founded, and is still owned and operated by the Alberti family.From the beginning, our mission has been to provide high-quality swim instruction with unsurpassed customer service. Today, that principle remains the backbone of our company, which has expanded to four Bay Area locations.Its important to us to provide consistent, superior swim instruction at each of our schools. We have designed and built safe and comfortable indoor pools at each location to provide the optimum learning environment year-round. More importantly, each of our instructors is hand-picked for their love of children, and then formally trained to provide consistent, quality swim instruction for every swimmer of every ability.Student safety is our highest priority, and all of our instructors are CPR Certified. The Dolphins compete in the Northern California Swim League and have a rich history of success. Our team is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Our swim season begins in April and continues through July every year. Our experienced coaching staff also teaches several clinics per year including Stroke and Turn and Fall Swim Clinics. If you like to swim, Del Norte offers a swim program designed for adults 18 years and older. The Masters Swim is an organized swim class that is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 5am to 6am. The class is offered in the indoor pool during the winter and early spring months and then continues in the outdoor pool. The coach, Andy Lamb, brings an exciting workout plan to increase overall fitness as well as fine tune those swimming strokes. The class is designed for the beginner to the advanced or competitive swimmer. The class is offered free of charge for Del Norte members. The fee for non-members is $55 per month, plus guest fees. If you are interested in swimming in local meets, our Masters Swim is part of Pacific Masters Swimming ( PMS ). For just $40 per year, you will receive information on meets in the area and in the Bay Area for pool and open water events. For those children or adults who want to learn how to swim, we are fortunate to have a premier swim school at Del Norte. The Palmer Swim School, owned by Robin and Michelle Palmer, provides lessons for all ages that vary from learn-to-swim to competitive swim instruction. The Palmers have been providing lessons in Sacramento for over 25 years. Their unique styles and private, one-on-one lessons provide the ideal environment for learning and success. Welcome to Lakeridge Athletic Club. Located on six acres and nestled in the hills of El Sobrante, our 22, 000 square foot, country-club-style health and fitness resort is a full-service athletic club equipped to provide something for everyone. Originally opened in the 1960s as Canyon Swim Club, the Club boasted one of the largest pools in the county with six, 25-yard lap lanes, a section equal in size to the lap pool for splashing and relaxing, and a range in depth from 2 feet to 12 feet. When racquetball grew in popularity in the early 70s, the Club responded by expanding the facility and building eight racquetball courts and changing their name to Canyon Swim and Racquet Club. As the community grew and local interests and needs changed, the Club continued to evolve and converted four of the racquetball courts into a fitness center with areas designated for free weights, weight machines, and cardiovascular equipment as well as an upstairs aerobics studio. In the mid 80s, the Club changed its name again to the now familiar Lakeridge Athletic Club and installed four outdoor, lighted tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court, a sauna and Jacuzzi, and a childcare facility to truly become full-service. In October 2001, the Club continued its forward growth with major renovation programs including tennis court resurfacing, locker room upgrades, new wood aerobics floor, racquetball court flooring, new state-of-the-art weight machines and cardiovascular equipment, lobby re-design, pool upgrades, and new sports flooring throughout the fitness rooms just to name a few. With ongoing mid and long-range facility-improvement and upgrade plans, Lakeridge Athletic Club will continue to remain on the cutting edge of fitness.
