In 1991 Rabbi Kenneth Brander was brought down from New York to serve as the Rabbi of the synagogue. During his 14 year tenure, the synagogue has grown to more than 600 families. Rabbi Brander was instrumental in creating not just a vibrant synagogue, but he was the key figure in creating a Mikvah, Yeshiva High School, starting a community Kollel and addressing kashrut issues by serving as head of the ORB. His work with other institutions, not just in Boca Raton, but throughout the Tri-County area was critical in establishing The Boca Raton Synagogue as an important, integrated Orthodox community. In September 2005, Rabbi Brander resigned from the synagogue after being recruited by Yeshiva Unitversity to take the position of inaugural Dean for the Center for the Jewish Future. Upon his departure the Board of Directors bestowed upon Rabbi Brander the title of Rabbi Emeritus. On September 1, 2005, we were very fortunate to have Rabbi Efrem Goldberg agree to assume the position of our Marah DAtrah. As Rabbi Goldberg was the associate Rabbi of the Synagogue for the last 3 years of Rabbi Branders tenure, he assumed the role without missing a beat. Under Rabbi Goldbergs leadership, BRS continues to nurture and grow its membership and programming, and continues to be centrally involved our comminuty at large. Today, our Synagogue is spiritual home to more than 600 families. BRS provides daily, Shabbat and holiday services and offers a substantial broad adult education program. There are several active committees including sisterhood, mens club events, Chevra Kadisha, chesed and hospitality. BRS also has a strong youth program that server the needs of approximately 1, 000 children.
