Established in 1966, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority, also, known as RIPTA, operate public transit services throughout Rhode Island. It designs and conducts more than 3,300 daily trips. The authority offers services between Providence and Newport, Rhode Island. RIPTA operates a fleet of over 200 fixed-route buses and more than 130 paratransit vans. The authority has a staff of more than 800 trained and certified professionals who assist with a variety of transportation needs of passengers.
