The Po`okela Church sits upon the lower slope of a 10, 000 foot sleeping volcano in the small town of Makawao. Our church is one of the oldest in Hawaii, formed in 1843 by Rev. Green, a missionary, for an all-hawaiian congregation. The church building has a beautifully restored interior, reflecting the antiquity of its origin, mixed with current architectural upgrades. The peaceful calm and warmth of the sanctuary creates a setting for worship and praise. The aloha of the congregation has an appeal that draws multiple cultures from surrounding areas. The Po`oklea message creates a bond of joy and love along with a thirst for Christ. Faith, hope, and love.... we are an evangelical congregation, committed to sharing Christ with the world. Our Pastor, Rev. Dr. Kimberly Fong, is small in stature, but huge in her zeal for the Lord. Her messages are Biblically centered, motivating into action those who hear. We have surrendered ourselves to be the Lords "Fire on the Mountain"!

Central Union Church traces its roots back to 1833, with the establishment of the Seamens Bethel in the Port of Honolulu. Situated on the waterfront, it was started by the American Seamens Friend Society to minister to English-speaking sailors from whaling and trading ships. The worship services attracted a number of English-speaking townspeople, who in 1837 organized themselves as Oahu Bethel Church. In 1887, Central Union Church was created with more than 330 members. The church offers Sunday school and childrens ministries, a central union preschool, youth choir, community outreach services, after school programs for youth and young adults, and couples and singles ministries. It also offers membership and fellowship programs, deacons and deaconesses, adult education programs, a senior center and senior services, and a ministry of music. Central Union Church is located in Honolulu.
