Clyde's is the oldest steam powered cider mill in the United States and a National Historic landmark. Even if the place were inoperable and just another museum, it would still be worth a visit. But what makes Clyde's special is that after 129 years, it is still going strong and producing delicious cider, hard cider, apple wines and many other curious and tasty items.
This local Connecticut winery was first established over 30 years ago. Its wine manufacturing facility has developed over 15 wines, both sweet and dry, from nine varieties of its homegrown grapes. DiGrazia wine is often described as crisp and clean and has been developed to contain high quantities of antioxidants. Customers may also find and purchase a variety of wines such as blushes, reds, nouveau, spiced pumpkin and port. The vineyard also has a large and appealing gift shop as well as a picnic area for its patrons.
Bishops Orchards provides fresh produce from its own orchards, as well as specialty items, meats, frozen foods, prepared meals, a selection of cheeses and apple pie. Bishop's also has a wine label and provides tastings, as well as pick-your-own apples, peaches and raspberries. It is family owned and operated, and it shows.
Established in 1920, this family owned and operated business offers fresh produce, wines, fruits and flowers, which are grown and nurtured on site. Rosedale Farms offers additional services, such as tasting events, tours and farmers' market, as well as hosts weddings and special events.
Owners Al and Kathryn Mennone opened Stomp N Crush in August of 2010. They offer all the ingredients and tools for home winemakers and brewers. For beer they offer all the equipment, grains, hops and kits to brew beer. For the winemaker they have an extensive line of wine kits from all over the world as well as equipment and supplies for grape winemakers and cider makers. Some of the wine kits are designed to be ready to drink in as little as four weeks. They also have beginner wine and beer making equipment. In addition, they offer kits to make cheese and soda.
