Foothill Progressive Montessori Academy began in 1984 with 12 students, ranging in age from five to 12 years. In 1994, the pre-school component of the Academy relocated to 827 Houseman Street, also in La Cañada Flintridge. The elementary and middle grades remain at the Indionola Way site.Developing strong academic skills is the chief objective of Foothill Progressive as it works to hone social skills, physical fitness, consideration for others, musical and philanthropic appreciation and an understanding of cultural diversity. According to the school's website, the key is to develop well-rounded students who will grauduate to become productive members of society. Foothilloffers art education, computer class, dance, music, spanish, gymnastics, summer programs and day care.
