Founded in 1952, the Arc of Meriden-Wallingford is a membership agency that offers full-service, community-based opportunities for people with intellectual, developmental and cognitive disabilities. It is one of the largest, private care services providers in Connecticut. The agency, formerly known as the Meriden Wallingford Society for Retarded Children, offers occupational, physical and speech therapies and organizes integrated recreation and religious activities. It manages The Arc Eatery, which is an eating establishment that provides breakfast, lunch and catering options. The Arc of Meriden-Wallingford also assists people in grocery shopping, cooking, laundry, cleaning and painting rooms. It additionally offers employment assistance, nursing care, case management and dietary solutions.
