The Long Island Feline Adoption Center, located inside of Pet Supplies Plus, takes in cats and kittens who have been abandoned or abused and cares for them in cage-free settings. The caring staff's method allows cats and kittens that would normally be scared of people to accept them. It claims a 100 percent success rate.
Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization entering it's eleventh year in Port Jefferson. Since 1999, the group has helped find homes for 700 to 1000 animals per year. These are pets that have been found homeless, abandoned or are brought in by people who can no longer take care of them. The organization provides spay and neuter services as well as any necessary medical care, and they match the best pet for the person or family looking to adopt.
