Founded in 1937, Main Line Art Center is a nonprofit community art center located on Panmure Rd. in Haverford. The Wayne Art Center continues to grow as it has during the last five years and offers programming and exhibition for adults and children. Four sessions of classes and workshops are offered each year for sculpture, drawing, painting, ceramics, stained glass, jewelry, cooking and music instruction.
The Wayne Art Center also features two state of the art galleries that feature changing exhibitions of work by local, regional, national and international artists. The center runs a visual, culinary and performing arts summer camp with weekly day sessions for children ages 2 - 16 years old. Outreach programs are also offered including classes for brain injured and seniors. The gift shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
This non-profit organization offers classes in pottery, painting, sculptures, crafts, cartooning and drawing. It also provides Scout parties and birthday parties. The gallery is open to the public and has a gift shop.
Center for Young Musicians (CYM) opened its doors in Wexford in 1994 and expanded to the Sewickley site in 2006. The school provides music appreciation and instruction with the goal of developing "proficient instrumentalists who are lifelong supporters of music." Its programs include Early Childhood Music (ECM), Music Literacy and Long-Term Curriculum in violin, cello, piano and guitar.
CYM musicians—some as young as 5 years old—have performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and at the White House. The facility in Wexford, at 120 Lake Drive, is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 8pm and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm, year-round. The Sewickley facility is open by appointment only.
George's Music is located on North Main Street in Spring City. It sells instruments, including guitars, bass, percussion and keyboards, sound and recording equipment and music accessories. It also offers music lessons.
