There are many opportunities for Bible study, fellowship, outreach, special worship occasions and other special activities here Union Baptist Church. We offer a four-page pamphlet with important information about church activities and outreach with contacts and times. Copies of this invaluable brochure are available in the church office and the foyer or online by clicking here. Two youth groups, Womens Fellowship, R.O.L.L. club, supper groups and other small groups provide opportunities for enrichment, personal growth and fellowship. Bible study opportunities are available for everyone. A mens group meets every week for Bible study, prayer and fellowship. Additional opportunities for such experiences are provided periodically through weekday and evening study groups, retreats to Camp Wightman or to Gove Hill in Vermont, fellowship dinners, and summer picnics.

First Baptist Church of Stratford has a long history in the town beginning in 1877 when a small congregation met at the home of Sarah Talbot, then at the Old Academy School. Many years later, a church was built at Stratford Avenue and Johnson Court. The first pastor was Rev. George W. Fowlkes. In the 1950s, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. William O. Johnson, this church was constructed. Pastor Johnson served for 43 years and retired in 1997. In January 1998, Rev. William B. Sutton, III, became pastor.

Affiliated with the Meriden Baptist Church, MidState takes students ages 3 through 18 of all faiths from Meriden and the surrounding towns. Meriden students are picked up by bus, and other students must be driven to the school. Tuition is $3,000 per year, but discounts are available for church members and families with multiple children enrolled.

Stepney Baptist Church holds two services on Sundays: a traditional one featuring classic hymns at 9am and an informal Ignite Contemporary service at 11am. During the services, the church offers a nursery for babies and toddlers, and a Bible teaching and craft or game for children ages 5 to fifth grade. There is a coffee hour at 10:15 in between services.

The church grounds include Step-A-Way Nursery School and the Salt and Light Food Pantry, from which volunteers hand out food to the hungry on Saturdays, 11am-1pm. Visitors to the pantry receive two bags of groceries and a Bible.
