The Cedar Rapids Paramount Theatre is one of the few surviving grand movie palaces of the early 20th century. Built in the 1920 s, this architecturally extravagant, 1900 seat theater/performing arts center hosts nearly 200 events per year including concerts, fundraisers, corporate meetings, dance recitals and the Broadway Series of live theater productions. It is home to Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra, the Cedar Rapids Organ Society and community concerts. It was a gift to the city in 1975. The Paramount is included in the National Register of Historic Places that notes buildings of historical or architectural significance. The style is standard theater architecture, a combination of baroque and rococo popular in theaters of the period. It features a Wurlitzer pipe organ.

Community Affairs Corporation The Rock Rapids Community Affairs Corporation is a voluntary organization of citizens dedicated to the enhancement of the quality of life by implementing programs and services which promote commerce, industry and agricultural interest, enhance the social and cultural environment, and serve to unify the community as a whole. The Rock Rapids Community Affairs Corporation serves as the chamber of commerce and retail trade association. The CAC acts as a public relations agency as well. It works to create a favorable, positive image of the community. Acting as an information clearinghouse, all inquiries about the town are answered by the CAC. People are encouraged by the CAC to do business with fellow members. The CAC director, Angie JAger, works full-time and year-round for the overall improvement of the community and local economy. A community-wide calendar of events is maintained at the CAC office. The CAC acts as the River Valley Players box office and coordinates the United Fund drive and annual Farm & Home Show. Directories of community organizations, a list of Central Lyon alumni, telephone books, and maps of various cities, and state maps can be found there. Responsibility for coordinating the annual Heritage Days celebration is done at the CAC office with planning done by a steering committee. The Retail Trade Association meets monthly at the CAC office with promotional events coordinated there.
