The primary function of the Tax Collector's office is to collect and record taxes owed by the residents of Coventry. Municipal Lien Certificates are also issued here, that list all the outstanding taxes owed on a particular parcel and is mainly used to determine costs when closing on the sale of real property.
Residents can contact the Tax Collector's office to find information regarding payment due dates, tax rates, penalty charges, exemptions and where and how to pay.
Serving the Aquidneck Island communities, the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles at 73 Valley Road in Middletown provides nearly all DMV services, with the exception of written exams, which currently are only administered in Rhode Island at the Pawtucket branch.
Besides written exams, all registration and license transactions are processed here, including: license renewals, update information on license and registration, new and transfer registration, re-registration of expired (over three months) registrations, duplicate registrations, plate changes, plate cancellations, duplicate plate orders, vanity plate orders, out-of-state licenses, and limited permits (under 18) with CCRI 33-hour certificate. This branch also issues Identification cards. A written exam is required for applicants who possess an out-of-state 33-hour certificate.
Road tests are conducted Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30am - 2:45pm.

Built in 1978, Coventry Town Hall is located on Flat River Rd. The building is home to many municipal departments and offices, including planning and development, the town assessor, tax collector, town clerk, building officials and the Board of Canvassers. The office of the town manager, Thomas Hoover and the council chambers are also located here.
