Ellisville Parks and Recreation Department works to improve the parks and recreation areas in Ellisville and offers a wide range of programs and activities for the community. The department offers numerous special programs, tennis leagues, summer camps and youth sports as well. Kirkwood Lodge No. 484 is an active Masonic Lodge that provides plenty of activities that promote fellowship between its members and the community. It is located in one of the oldest and most interesting buildings in Kirkwood in a quiet neighborhood that looks forward to the barbeques, picnics and fairs held by the lodge.
Civic Center East is located in a prime part of Hazelwood and is easily accessed from Interstate 270 and Lindbergh Boulevard. It is a great recreational gathering place for Hazelwood residents. The center features a gymnasium, basketball and volleyball courts, a suspended walking/jogging track, a fitness center, Camstar Strength Equipment, treadmills, elliptical trainers, an Arc Cross Trainer, exercycles, a climber and hand weights. The center also has multi-purpose rooms with kitchens and seating that can accommodate up to 160 individuals, which can be rented for various occasions. There is a small fee for use of the event rooms.
Heman Park is the largest park in University City. The St. Louis Cardinal- funded baseball field highlights the spacious park, which also offers soccer fields, ball diamonds, basketball courts, picnic areas, a walking trail, two playgrounds and a pavilion.
