Stenzel Park is on Wicks Boulevard at Elvina Drive. This park has four regulation ball fields for organized baseball league play. There are also four barbecue pits, six picnic tables, a half court basketball court, restrooms and a concession booth. Picnic areas at this park are available for reservation from April 1 through Oct. 31. San Lorenzo Japanese Christian Church has a long and rich history. It belongs to the OMS Holiness Conference of North America and was established in 1929 due in large part to Kumaichiro Shinoda from Tottori Prefecture. The church has activities including Sunday services, youth and adult Bible study, and outreach to spread the Gospel.
Bethel Presbyterian Church of San Leandro is lead by Pastor Sarah Reyes. It shares a facility with Amazing Grace Ministries. Church School and worship services are held at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Stretching along San Leandro's bay shoreline, Marina Park is a great place to jog, bird watch, host a barbecue and more. Picnic areas can be reserved from April 1 through Oct. 31, including three large group sites. There are also two playgrounds, two sand volleyball courts and a long, flat, grassy field. A mile-long fitness trail parallels the bay. Clear days here offer excellent views of the Santa Cruz Mountains, San Francisco, and the planes landing and taking off from nearby Oakland International Airport.
Established in 1928, St. James Lutheran Church is an evangelical church located near downtown San Leandro. The congregation is led by Daine Bowers, senior pastor.
Washington Manor is the newest of San Leandro's public libraries, dedicated in 2006. The second largest branch, Washington Manor has Wi-Fi and computers with Internet access.
There's a large children's section with an outside patio attached. The library has two reservable study rooms and a large program room with capacity for 200 people (for-profit organizations pay a fee).
Children's storytime is held every Thursday at 10:30am. The library also holds family fun events once a month as well as teen events.
Located across from Bancroft Middle School and adjacent to the Alameda County Veterans' Memorial Building, Memorial Park is a pleasant and shady park. Dedicated in 1938, it is one of the city's oldest parks.

Root Park is a lovely place to take a break in downtown San Leandro. The park was deeded to the city in 1917 and renovated in 1996. Numerous benches line a covered colonnade behind a statue dedicated to the city's Portuguese immigrants. The park also showcases three flowerbeds maintained by the San Leandro Dahlia Society. There are steps that provide access to San Leandro Creek, where nature-themed murals brighten the walls of the underpass. There's also a creekside platform with a bench for taking in the scenery. The park has several picnic tables and a drinking fountain.
Bonaire Park is on the corner of Juniper and Sagewood streets. This five-acre park is full of green grass, tall trees, picnic tables, an open field and a large playground. Bonaire Park is maintained on a regular basis and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. Permits can be acquired through the city for special events here.
Siempre Verde Park has a large, flat grassy area, basketball courts, a small baseball field and a playground area with swings and a jungle gym. A semi-covered group picnic area with grills can be reserved. There's also a restroom on-site.
Our Lady of Good Counsel ministers to the growing Asian immigrant community in this quiet neighborhood. Its mass is called "Simbang Gabi," or "mass at dawn," and it has a nine-day novena to the blessed mother.
Warden Park is located deep inside Warden Avenue and Tudor Road. This park is a small park specifically designed for the local Warden community. It includes two BBQ pits, two picnic tables, a basketball court and a tot lot. Some parking is available on the street, defined as "First come first serve."
