The state Division of Family & Children Services oversees welfare and employment support, child protection services, foster care and other avenues through which families can be supported. Paulding DFCS is located in the same facility as the Paulding County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children Unit, which aims to protect the county's young residents by investigating criminal activity where a child has been physically or sexually abused, neglected or kidnapped. The unit also employs proactive programs to prevent such incidents.
These are the government offices of Fulton County and the home of Fulton County State Court and Superior and Magistrate Court. The Fulton County Sheriff's Office also is headquartered here, as is the county's law library.
The Douglas County Occupational Tax Office issues Occupational Tax Registrations (or business licenses) for home and commercial businesses within Douglas County. This office is also responsible for issuing Door to Door Sales Permits; Server Permits (for restaurants or bars to serve alcohol); collections of excise tax for liquor, beer, wine and hotels; Passenger Carrying Vehicle Identification Badges (for limousines and taxi cab drivers); Alcohol Beverage Licenses and special events.
