Spokane International Airport is the second-largest airport in the state of Washington that serves the communities of Northern Idaho, Eastern Washington, Coeur d’Alene and Spokane. The airport was used during World War II to train units on new aircraft being developed by Boeing. In 1945 the land was developed into a commercial airport. The current name was given in 1960 but the airport code remains GEG as a nod to the original name Geiger Field.

In the next 5-10 years the airport hopes to add another concourse and more non-stop flights to the east coast. Currently, the airport contains 24 gates within its three concourses. There are seven airlines that fly to and from GEG Airport serving many domestic and international destinations. Top destinations from Spokane are Seattle, Denver and Portland.

Ground transportation at GEG includes eight rental car companies, seven bus and shuttle companies, taxis and numerous hotel shuttle options. There is outside parking, garage parking, metered parking and a lot serviced by an airport shuttle. All but metered parking options are available with weekly and/or daily rates.  There is also a cell phone lot for passenger pick-ups. The airport has over a dozen dining and retail options for travelers. There are several hotel and motel options within 3 miles of the airport. The Ramada Spokane Airport is on site and even has an indoor water park.

The Greater Rochester International Airport is in Monroe County, New York and serves five area counties. The airport is about three miles from the center of Rochester, New York. The airport started small when it was built in 1927, but its proximity to New York City and World War I and II brought rapid growth to the area. By 1963 the airport consisted of two concourses with ten gates between them. 1977 saw the introduction of jet ways, expansion continued through the 1980’s and with this growth came a new name. Great Rochester International Airport got is name in 1985.

Currently ROC Airport has two concourses housing 22 gates.  There are nine airlines flying to and from the airport serving several domestic and international destinations. Delta Air Lines is the largest carrier and Atlanta, New York City and Chicago are the three most popular destinations.

Rochester Transport Service offers rides to and from the airport as well as Amtrak and Greyhound. There are options for rental cars, taxis and limos as well. The Fairfield Inn by Marriott Rochester Airport is conveniently located on sight and is within walking distance of the terminal. Several other hotels are located near ROC and offer shuttle service to the airport.

McCarran International Airport LAS is an airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. LAS Airport is the 24th busiest in the world and handles 40 million travelers annually.  There are 1,234 slot machines in the airport. McCarran came about after a purchase by the Clark County in 1948 from the Crockett family. Soon afterward it was named in honor of Nevada Senator Pat McCarran.

Trenton Mercer Airport is located in Ewing, New Jersey, four miles from the Trenton city center. It ranks number six in the list of New Jersey’s busiest airports and averages about 100,000 flights a year.

TTN Airport has a long history with aviation, the first plane landing in 1907 on what was then fields used for farming. The land wasn’t used as an airport until 1922 when Skillman Airport opened on the site that now houses Trenton-Mercer. Skillman was used during WWII, to test US Navy plans. After the war the airport reopened as Mercer County Airport and in 1995 it was renamed to Trenton-Mercer Airport to resonate more closely with the towns it serves.

Although there are bus and train options that take passengers close to Trenton-Mercer, there are no direct routes that drop-off in front of the main terminal. Many taxi services provide the most common form of transportation to the airport. Parking is free at Trenton and both Avis and Budget car rental are on-site.

The airport has one terminal and two gates, servicing the Frontier flights that utilize its facilities.  Frontier currently flies to nine domestic locations from TTN Airport. The airport will temporary suspend all air traffic from September 2013 to November 2013 to upgrade the runway.
