Jefferson Elementary School is one of eight elementary schools in Elmhurst serving children from kindergarten through fifth grade. In addition to core subjects, the school, located in southeast Elmhurst, offers Spanish, art, choir, band and orchestra.
In 2009, 95 percent of Jefferson students met or exceeded state standards on standardized tests.

Lincoln Elementary School is located just north of Vallette Street and west of Spring Road. In addition to core classes, students can choose to participate in chorus, intramurals, journalism club and more. Ninety-five percent of Lincoln students met or exceeded state standards as determined by standardized tests. The principal is MaryAnn Kalis.
Visitation School is a Catholic educational institution providing instruction for children in preschool through eighth grade. It offers children a variety of clubs and sports activities and provides before- and after-care.
Salt Creek Primary School is one of the schools in Salt Creek Elementary District 48, which serves students from Elmhurst, Villa Park, Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace. Salt Creek Primary, with a student enrollment of about 150 is the only one of the district's three schools located in Elmhurst. Salt Creek serves children in preschool through first grade. It also is home to classes for students with visual impairments. The school offers a hot lunch program. Staff includes a full-time special education teacher and reading specialist, and programs include speech/language therapy and English as a second language. The school also has a library media center and computer lab with 13 computers.
