Community Health Councils is a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides a range of health care services for economically disadvantaged individuals. Established in 1992, it increases health care access and quality for uninsured and underserved populations through community participation. The organization administers the Neighborhood Food Watch campaign, which monitors the sale and promotion of food products. Community Health Councils maintains advisory committees that focus on disparities in the areas of health care, economic parity and organizational wellness. It supports programs that eliminate health disparities related to infant mortality, breast and cervical cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and HIV/AIDS through its REACH 2010 initiative.
