Chow's Gymnastics & Dance facility is located on Park Drive near Ridge Street. This gym offers gymnastics instructions in a world-class facility. Dance classes are also available for almost every age group. The facility is available for parties and also offers open and private lessons. This gym is the training home of Olympic champion Shawn Johnson.
Raccoon River Park is part of the West Des Moines parks system. Blue Heron Lake is at the center of this park and offers 700 feet of public beach for park patrons. There is a soccer complex and a baseball diamond for adult softball leagues. This park also provides picnic shelters, a multipurpose facility that is used for programming, and a dog park.
Colonial Bowling Lanes offers 18 lanes, a bar and lounge, food, games, and more. The bar serves beer specials and food such as burgers, mozzerella sticks, fries, chicken tenders, pizza and more. Walnut Creek YMCA is a community center that offers programs and classes for both children and adults. Fitness programs available include group cycling, yoga, aerobics and swimming lessons. Child care services available include supervision for children from ages 6 weeks to 9 years for up to two hours per day.
Located south of Jordan Creek Town Center, West Grand Golf offers an 18-hole miniature golf course and a driving range. The company provides group passes, discount cards and private and group lessons for West Des Moines and the surrounding area.
Sportsplex West is a locally-owned, state-of-the-art sports and recreation complex owned by two former athletes and brothers-in-law, Pat Yacinich and Mike Mahoney. Sportsplex West features a basketball court, two volleyball courts, two batting cages, a gym, a rock climbing wall and a multi-use Astro Turf field. It serves athletes of every age group and level of intensity.
