The Ocean Institute is an educational facility is located in the beautiful city of Dana Point. Its mission is to educate people of all ages to become responsible stewards of the ocean. The Institute is nationally known for its hands-on approach to environmental education, marine science and maritime history programs. The Ocean Institute specializes in ground-breaking marine and social science programs. It has a collection of artifacts and animals on its campus. More than 110,000 K-12 students and 6,000 teachers annually participate in the Ocean Institute's 61 award-winning programs.
The El Dorado Nature Center is a local park and museum. It also offers scenic hiking trails.
CuriOdyssey at Coyote Point is an interactive center that hosts hands-on exhibits intended to engage children and their families while demonstrating complex natural systems in an informative way. Guests are invited to create a vortex, make objects fly, and visit some of their favorite land and sea animals in re-creations of their natural habitat. CuriOdyssey is accredited by the associated of Zoos and Aquariums and offers science programs and camps.
Effie Yeaw Nature Center is an environmental and cultural education center located inside Ancil Hoffman Park, off Tarshes Drive in Carmichael. The center is operated by the American River Natural History Association and offers 77 acres filled with educational stations for adults and kids, small animals, exhibits and more. The area has three self-guided trails which offer views of animals, including turkeys, deer, rabbits and other creatures. The location also offers a shop, specialty exhibits, as well as space available for rental.
The Center's Assembly Building is available for meetings, workshops and educational programs and special events. It can hold 100 to 130 people in a single room or it can be divided into three individual rooms to seat 20 to 50 people.
